Okay, if you scroll down, you'll probably find Two threads on guild armor.
Well, I was going to post this on them but, I was afraid it'd be overlooked as always so there'd be no comment on it.
My little idea:
The biggest problem everybody can identify is the lag of uploading all of the customized skins for the guilds. Then nobody would really like that would they?
The Cape is quite enough for PvE/PvP areas.
But what if the guild armor was shown only in guild battles? It'd be like American Football (or Rugby, I don't give a damn), where the hometeam wears their cool uniforms. Of course in GvG, the offense will get their armor as well.
Armor only in guild battles? Sounds reasonable, no lag, and it shows Guild Pride.
How to get it? Well I've been thinking of this:
Unless if a separate program were to be made by NC Soft or ANET, it'd have to be in game, and therefore, not as elaborate as people would like.
For starters, there'll be "blank" skins, so you just have a dude, in black or white outfit till you color it in.
Or, instead of premade skins, you could choose how the armor would go on through a pain staking process. "Ok, the chest armor goes here... The shoulder part would be layered on top of the chest piece... The shoulder needs a spike... The legs... hmmm......" You probably get what I mean by it'll take a very long time.
Then for each piece of the armor, you can choose a texture: Scales, smooth, Rough, Chainmail, etc.
Or you can place your own scales, chainmail, etc. by selecting a scale.... click here, click there... a lot of times. Or like the Knights armor, draw the indentations. (Must go across the whole armor in straight or slightly curved lines since "funny" people will put dirty words on.)
The helmet, o0o00o0oo, everybody loves the helmet. It'll start with a blank regular helm, then from there. CLICK, and drag. Select a square/rectangular piece, place here... Oh I want to shape it, and make it a rhombus. Now I'll do that to the other side...
Now I'll put a circle on! It'll be like a jewel. Select jewel skin, NO! I want a ruby shape thing instead!
Ok, you got the point, I hope you guys are able to visualize what I'm talking about.
For designs:
I like this picture or a pyramid, I think I'll make it smaller and put it on the shoulder...
Too bad I can't draw anything because people will try to be funny and put on the F word and such. What a shame.
I'll make the armor black! No, I'll make green! Nah, gold...
Select yellow... change the color grade... GOLD! (Color can be set of all pieces, or selected ones, or all can be different)
Now I'll put our Guild Emblem over the heart... YAY! DONE!
There, that's my little thing on making armor.
But the armor will only stay in the Guild Battles/Scrimmages.
The armor will cost 5k for each set, one for male, one for female. There can be only one set for each class/gender. You can't have two sets of Guild Male Armor. Only one!
Then in the item menu, a little slot right under Guild Cape will show, you can do put on Guild Armor, or take off... o0o0o0o0o0o0o0oooo0o0o0o0o0o0o0o FANCY!
There's my two cents.

well i would love it, to have this armor for more then just gvg, really if its just one set per guild and the persons comp handles the image loading then i dont see too much lag involved really.
1. Won't the whole thing lag terribly?
2. Why won't stupid, rude people write **** in an arrangement of circles?
3. There will be, I suspect, a lot of glitches with this. Even my Guild Cape often has a corner sticking into the back of my armor. And because Guild Wars uses, I'm pretty sure, nude models before your put the armor on top, any sort of slip might be just a wee bit embarrassing. Especially if there are little immature boys running around trying to see if they can get a glimpse of something. (Can somebody please tell Witness Casori in the Gates of Kryta Mission location to lower her skirt? You can see right up there...)

1. Not if it only loaded the capes of a match
2. Not sure what you mean.
3. Nude models no... Models with underwear obviously. (take off your armour)
If this were to be implemented, from my understanding of basic 3d design, it would be much more work than it would be worth. Also, high ranked guilds like having their PvE fissure armor in GvG.

Battles are definitely one time I won't like to have lag. Sure, it's not alot to download, but people already experiencing lag are going to have a problem...
I would really like to see Guild armour it would be more diverse then then normal armour set's and It would be nice to have an armour in which the whole guild has as an uniform even if it is just for GvG's and scrimmages . It would be similar to the White Mantle's uniform(However I'd like it if Classes could choose armour not dependant on their Class.)
There should be around 3 or 4 different types of armour for each guild(but they should have the same colour scheme) heavy armour(like Plate armour),armoured(similar to the canthan NPC's armour),light armour(Ranger/Assassain style) and mystic(Caster type armour). Like I said before You should get a choice of 1 of the 4 no matter what your class is.
The Npc's In your Guild Hall should share your armour schemes the Guild Lord and Knights (Heavy armour),Archers(armoured),Theif(light armour) and Bodyguard(mystic).

Does having it in the guild hall greatly reduce the lag you talk about?
Writing cuss words in circles..... hmmmmm........... that's going to be hard to get around.
Yes, I am aware that your cape may have a tumor, you could potentially design an armor that doesn't do that.
Then the see right up there part... Ummm... that part is a see through thing, nothing cool is going to show. Except for the sky, or the ground.
To Lydz, isn't the lag the same as you have to get all the armors the rest of the people are using? Because you got to count the dye... size... it's basically like the general armor, I don't believe lag will stack on like that, I think it'll be the same. But you never know... uh oh...
to Losttoapathy
Well, people in the game are actually willing to make their armor. I'm just not so sure about the developers programming it. Don't think they'll be too estatic.
to Badlad21
I said for the people that don't like it could take it off via item menu. Unless if I did a terrible job writing that part. So everybody could use their Fissure Armor.
to Crimso,
sounds like a good idea, but that's too many models that aren't already on your computer that you have to download for each hall. It might stack on a little bit of lag. I mean, going from guild hall to guild hall, that's a lot of downloading.
The problem is that my idea of a cool cape and your idea of a cool cape do not always match.
My idea of cool guild armor and your idea of cool guild armor will likewise also not always match.
What's wrong with a nice quartered peacock and azure with lion rampant anyway? But everytime a kid joins the guild, they want to change it to some black thing with a charge nobody can see at a distance.
Can you imagine what will happen with guild armor!

Did you ever know that only the Guild Leader is like the only one who can change the cape? That would apply here too. Unless if that changed, but I don't think it did.
@Aaje Vhanli
I posted this idea mainly to describe how I would see Guild Armor in the game, it's not a petition to put it in the game.
If I can write FLAG with a couple of symbols, then anybody can drag a few circles or ruby shape things around and position them so they spell out a rude word.
In the one with the Obsidian armor top on, there are no straps attached to the top. In the underwear model, there are straps. Therfore, the straps must have been removed, therefore the underwear is actually just another type of armor. I think.
Also, if you go into "1st person" and go into somebody, you can see the different layers.

I don't think anybody can see your pictures, because I don't.
Anyway, about that first person thing... Layers... wow, you're not going to see any breasts or private parts by doing that. How naughty...
Fixed the link, now you have to click on them. Clicky clicky, piccy piccy. (It'll say that there is a error or someting, click the link on the error page and it'll come up.)
And I know that you aren't gonna see anything naughty with the layers, but if you take the whole lot of armor off, then ...
